St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina has it's roots from Circa.1680 and is the oldest
Anglican congregation south of the State of Virginia.  The address is 142 Church Street and the City of
Charleston had to create a curve in an otherwise straight route to pass around in front of the church.  The
notion of rising from the "ashes of Hugo" relates to the 1989 hurricane that leveled the Isle of Palms and
much of Charleston.  This church had also seen major damage by the Union forces during the Civil War.

Still it is the tallest of Charleston church steeples and for a period of time the steeple was used as a
beacon to light the way for ships in Charlestons' harbor.  St. Phillips Church also creates a great backdrop
to "tie the knot".
